How we work

As a Collective, we are committed to doing things differently. Remand is a complex issue. We have to work together to make lasting change a sustained, unified, and independent voice to fight for an end to this injustice.

As a Collective, we have:

  • A shared commitment to co-production — a way of working that values all forms of knowledge and expertise equally, including lived experience, collective experience, professional and academic knowledge, and community insight.
  • A belief that the people most affected by the problem are critical to designing and building effective solutions
  • A recognition that we will not be able to hear the voices of all women affected, and that their absence does not mean silence. We actively seek safe and ethical ways to hear from as many women as possible.
  • Accountability for representing women’s voices (those heard and unheard) with care, accuracy, and dignity.
  • An understanding that every woman’s experience of the justice system is shaped by her personal history, culture, and social context, and that collaboration must be built on safety, respect, transparency and trust.

The Collective is organised into three groups:

The governance body tasked with overseeing and implementing our overarching strategy

A group working to fill data gaps are co-create meaningful solutions to the problem

A group tasked with all public-facing communications and influencing work
